All You Need To Know To Get Married In Marrakech

Wedding
Filed in:

Destination weddings have always been at the heart of my work and Marrakech is one of the most epic city I got to photograph (it’s a tie with Bali).

Natalie and Sebastien decided to get married in Marrakech with only their friends and family to experience the whimsical atmosphere the city can offer. They hosted their wedding at the Royal Mansour: trust me when I tell you this hotel impressed me, and you know I travel a lot and saw it all when it comes to hotels. Each Suite is actually a full home, with your staff coming in through a secret door which gives you the most exclusive service.

Marrakech is a city with so much to see and so many different landscapes between the desert, the city, the sea and the mountains. You probably know that Yves Saint Laurent had a house there, the Majorelle garden, which is now a museum.

You must also know the famous Souk of Marrakech, where you can find the most delicate art craft and spices.

Marrakech is also ideal for holidays but also your wedding because they have incredible private homes (called Ryad) you can rent and jaw-dropping hotels. I wish I could tell you I only spend my holidays wandering the city, going on adventures and off beaten paths, but the truth is that I love hotels and chilling around.

In Marrakech you will have both the thrill of the city and the luxury of your hotel.

Why getting married in Marrakech?

One of the obvious answers is for the weather, if you dream of getting married in the sun then you can’t go wrong with Marrakech. The weather is mild all year round, but I advise you to go between March and June.

Another reason to get married there is Marrakech’s unique architecture and bright colors. And even if you want a western wedding, as I said before, the oriental side of Marrakech blends very well with our culture.

Finally, there are dozens of hotels perfect for getting married, all more beautiful than the other; trust me when I say you’ll have the choice!

To help you sort out your options, I have compiled a list of some of my favorite hotels in Marrakech.

My favorite hotels in Marrakech to get married

Royal Mansour:

The Royal Mansour has 53 singular Riads, each more incredible than the other.  Its two hectares of gardens with swimming pool is the ideal place to have your ceremony.

L’Oberoi Marrakech:

The Oberoi hotel is one of the most beautiful 5 star hotels in Marrakech. With its architecture and its typical Moroccan decoration, this place is a true haven of luxury. Its immense basin with the Atlas in background will not fail to make you dream.
The hotel has several villas and luxurious rooms, most of which have a garden and a swimming pool, which will be the perfect place for a Moroccan stay in the well-being and relaxation.

Should I hire a planner for my wedding in Marrakech?

As always my answer is yes, and I want to tell you, especially in Marrakech. Although the hotels often offer to help you organize your wedding, I recommend you 1000% to hire a wedding planner.

How much does a wedding in Marrakech cost?

I can’t tell you exactly, depending on the place you choose it can vary a lot. If you choose a Riad in a 5 star hotel, it will not be the same budget as for a 4 star hotel. The price can also vary depending on the period.

Why hire an experienced photographer for your wedding in Marrakech?

As a photographer what has always been very important is the light and I can promise you that at sunset time your pictures will be out of this world. I know Marrakech very well and I could take you to the most beautiful places to make your memories and photos epic.
